Conference Voting

Participating in Conference Governance

The voting process is a vital part of our Annual Conference governance, allowing delegates to shape the direction of our conference through thoughtful discernment and decision-making. As we gather around our theme “Generation to Generation: God’s Power, Christ’s Glory, Our Future,” your participation in this process represents how we collectively steward the work God has entrusted to us.

Each vote cast contributes to our shared mission of bringing wholeness to the world through healthy biblical communities. Your role as a voting member connects our rich heritage with our future direction.

Nominees

Our Nominating Committee has carefully selected qualified candidates for the available positions on our conference boards and committees. Each nominee has been thoroughly evaluated to ensure they can serve our community effectively.

To help you make informed decisions, we’ve compiled detailed information about each candidate, including:

  • Their church affiliation
  • Ministry background and experience
  • Vision for service in the role
  • Qualifications related to the position

We encourage all voting members to review this information carefully before casting your votes.

Pre-Conference Online Voting

For the 2025 Annual Conference, all board and committee elections will take place online before the conference using Ranked Choice Voting. This approach ensures everyone can participate regardless of in-person attendance and allows more time during the conference for worship, formation, and community building.

Voting Timeline
  • Online Voting Period: May 4 – May 12, 2025
  • Results Announcement: During Annual Conference (May 17, 2025)

Results Announcement

All voting results—both pre-conference elections and in-session votes—will be announced during the Annual Conference on May 17 and subsequently posted on this page. Results will include all elected positions and decisions made by the body of delegates.

The confirmation of these results represents an important transition point in conference leadership and governance, carrying forward our mission and ministry into the coming year.

Understanding Ranked Choice Voting

Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) allows you to rank candidates in order of preference rather than selecting just one. This ensures elected representatives are chosen with broader consensus, better reflecting our community’s preferences.

Key benefits of RCV include:

  • Voter Empowerment: Rank all candidates from most to least preferred
  • Enhanced Representation: Elected officials must achieve majority support
  • Efficient and Fair: Eliminates the need for multiple rounds of voting during conference

This method follows the latest guidelines from Robert’s Rules of Order and is particularly well-suited for electronic voting.

How It Works
  • Voters rank candidates from most preferred (1) to least preferred
  • If no candidate achieves a 50% threshold of first-preference votes initially, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated
  • Votes for the eliminated candidate are redistributed to the next preferred candidates on those ballots
  • This process repeats until candidates meet the required threshold

For multiple open positions, the process is repeated for subsequent seats, with ballots adjusted to exclude previously elected candidates.

Voting Eligibility

According to our organizational structure, voting privileges are granted to specific members of our conference community:

  • Conference ministerial members (Elders)
  • Officially designated church delegates
  • Board of Administration members
  • Additional representatives as specified in the conference standing rules

If you’re unsure about your voting status, please check with your church leadership or contact the conference office prior to the event.
